Day nine of the US Open has been postponed due to persistent rain in New York.

Day nine of the US Open has been postponed due to persistent rain in New York.

The inclement weather means that Great Britain's Andy Murray will have to wait until tomorrow for his match against Donald Young.

The match between John Isner and Gilles Simon has also been cancelled, as have all the women's quarter-final encounters that were scheduled.

"The latest forecast indicates worsening conditions with no projected breaks in the rain through the remainder of the day and into the night," read a statement on the US Open website.

"Due to this forecast, the USTA is cancelling the Tuesday, September 6 day session and the Tuesday, September 6 night session. Play will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, September 7."

Murray is due on court at 11am local time tomorrow.
