Arsenal will reportedly win the race to sign Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli if the United Kingdom does not leave the European Union.

Arsenal could reportedly win the race to sign Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli.

The 17-year-old is currently at Ituano, but the prospect is expected to make the switch to a club in Europe in the coming months.

According to Globo Esporte, Arsenal will edge out 17 clubs to seal Martinelli's signature providing that the United Kingdom does not leave the European Union.

Martinelli currently finds himself in a position where he may be able to secure a work permit to move to the Emirates Stadium, but regulations will change should the UK exit the EU.

The report adds that Martinelli intends to gain an Italian passport, but that would not alter the outcome at a work permit hearing should Brexit come into effect.
