Barcelona forward Luis Suarez sidelined until September

Luis Suarez will be absent from the Barcelona squad until September having suffered an injury to his Achilles.

Barcelona have been dealt a blow with the news that Luis Suarez will be sidelined until September.

Suarez was named in the starting lineup as Barca took on Athletic Bilbao on Friday night, only to be withdrawn during the closing stages of the first half through injury.

Barcelona have revealed that the Uruguay international has suffered an issue with the soleus area in his right leg, which is likely to keep the forward out of action for the next two weeks.

The 32-year-old will now miss next weekend's home fixture with Real Betis, while the attacker is also expected to be absent for the trip to Osasuna on August 31.

The Catalan giants succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Bilbao, leaving the club towards the bottom of the La Liga standings.
