The Court of Arbitration for Sport has revealed that a decision regarding Luis Suarez's appeal against a four-month ban is likely to be delivered next week.
The Uruguayan international arrived at CAS's headquarters in Switzerland today, along with his legal team, to fight his case against the lengthy ban.
FIFA suspended the 27-year-old, who left Liverpool for Barcelona in a reported £75m deal this summer, from all football-related activity after he bit into the shoulder of Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup in Brazil.
After today's hearing, CAS has stated that the three-man panel is likely to make a decision on Suarez's fate before the end of next week.
The prolific striker's legal team were confident of getting the ban halved, and if successful, Suarez should be eligible to feature for Barcelona from August 25.
