Bayern Munich secured a 2-0 victory over Roma to book their place in the Champions League knockout stages.

Franck Ribery and Mario Gotze scored the goals as the German champions won for the fourth successive match in the season's tournament.

Here Sports Mole takes a look at who impressed during an entertaining 90 minutes.

BAYERN MUNICH

Goal

Manuel Neuer: Was hardly forced to make a save, but produced a stunning stop in the closing minutes. He rushed out to block Gervinho's effort, before getting up quickly to turn Nainggolan's powerful strike over the bar. (7/10)

Defence

Jerome Boateng: Solid performance from the defender who was rarely troubled. Made sure that Destro did not get in behind and marshalled the backline well. (7/10)

Mehdi Benatia: Once again the Moroccan enjoyed a victory against his former club. Did not have too much to deal with and was rarely beaten for pace by Iturbe or Florenzi.(6/10)

David Alaba: Energetic showing from the Austrian who popped up all over the pitch. He set up the first goal with a great run down the left wing and came close to scoring in the second half with a fantastic free kick that went just over the bar. (8/10)

Midfield

Juan Bernat: Had a decent game in the midfield and worked tirelessly for his team. Used the ball well as his side dominated the midfield. (6/10)

Xabi Alonso: Another quality showing from the Spaniard. Never gave away possession and made a number of telling passes as his team built their attacks patiently from the back. (7/10)

Philipp Lahm: Just like Alonso, Bayern's captain had a great game in the centre of the pitch. Played some wonderful passes and had a decent chance to score in the second half when he fired wide from close range. (7/10)

Rafinha: Slotted into the midfield and produced an accomplished performance. Got down the right wing well all evening and supplied a number of decent passes. (7/10)

Attack

Frank Ribery: Influential performance from the Frenchman, who shone in Robben's absence. He showed great composure to score Bayern's first of the evening and was lively throughout. (8/10)

Mario Gotze: The World Cup winner had another eventful night and scored his ninth goal of the season when he touched in Lewandowski's cross. Always looked to get in behind the Roma defence and was involved in many of his team's best moves. (8/10)

Robert Lewandowski: Despite not finding the net, the striker led the line well and played a crucial part in Bayern's win. He set up Gotze's goal with a fine cross from the left wing and always looked a danger. (7/10)

Substitutes

Xherdan Shaqiri: Looked lively after coming on but didn't have many chances to impress. (6/10)

Sebastian Rode: Replaced the injured Alaba late on and helped his team see out the match. (6/10)

Pierre Hojbjerg: Was only on for the last two minutes and did not see much of the ball. (6/10)

ROMA

Goal

Lukasz Skorupski: Despite Bayern's dominance of the match, the keeper was not forced into making too many saves. He had little chance of stopping either of the goals, but looked unconvincing from set pieces. (6/10)

Defence

Vasilis Torosidis: Made a great block in the first half to deny Bernat's goalbound effort. Could have done better with the first goal after giving Alaba far too much space to get in behind and find Ribery. (6/10)

Kostas Manolas: Had a much better evening than he did two weeks ago in Rome. Did well to stop Lewandowski from getting in behind him and was strong in the air. (6/10)

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa: The Frenchman was another one of Roma's players who were much improved from their last European match. Made a few decent challenges and was rarely beaten. (6/10)

Jose Holebas: Did not have the worst of games, but found it tough to deal with the pace of Bayern's attack. Was replaced at half time by Cole. (6/10)

Midfield

Daniele De Rossi: Did not see too much of the ball, as his side were largely on the back foot. He helped out his defence when they came under pressure and generally led by example. (6/10)

Radja Nainggolan: The Belgian went down easily inside the box when he touched the ball past the keeper and the referee rightly decided against giving a penalty. He did almost score a second late on, but his powerful strike was somehow tipped over by Neuer. (5/10)

Seydou Keita: Tireless performance from the midfielder. Was a strong presence in the centre of the pitch and helped to break up a number of Bayern's attacks. (7/10)

Attack

Juan Iturbe: Quiet night from the winger. Was unable to get in behind the Bayern defence and cause any problems. He was eventually replaced by Gervinho 16 minutes from time. (5/10)

Alessandro Florenzi: Started the game brightly, but faded as the match wore on. Picked up a slight knock in the first half and went off after colliding with Torosidis just before the hour mark. (6/10)

Mattia Destro: The striker endured a tough evening up front. He received very little help from his teammates, but his hold-up play did relieve some of the pressure his side came under. (6/10)

Substitutes

Gervinho: The Ivorian looked lively after coming off the bench and saw a shot well saved by Neuer following a solo run. (6/10)

Ashley Cole: Came on at half time and was solid in his regular left-back slot. (6/10)

Miralem Pjanic: Arrived just before the hour mark but failed to have his usual impact on the match. (6/10)
