Brentford forward Jota is expected to be sidelined for three months after undergoing ankle surgery.
The Spaniard, 24, damaged ligaments during his side's 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town on the opening day of the season.
Jota scored 11 goals in 46 games for Brentford last season following a move from Celta Vigo.
Looking forward to recover as soon as possible and come back stronger than ever. ⚽️⚽️ pic.twitter.com/gmtCyoGbff
