Burnley boss Sean Dyche: 'West Bromwich Albion punished us'

Burnley boss Sean Dyche feels that his side were on the end of some poor decisions in their 1-1 draw with West Brom, but concedes that they were punished at set pieces.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has admitted that he will have to take a closer look at how Burnley defend set pieces after both West Bromwich Albion goals against his side this afternoon came from corners.

The Clarets took a two-goal lead for the second straight home game, but again failed to convert their advantage as the Baggies fought back for a point.

Dyche was unhappy that West Brom's second stood as Craig Dawson appeared to block off David Jones, allowing Brown Ideye a free header from close range, and also felt that his side should have had a penalty in the final 10 minutes when Gareth McAuley blocked Ben Mee's cross with his arm.

"We've been punished today, but there's a foul for the second goal and it's definitely handball," he told the club's official website after the game.

"It's very difficult to win matches in the Premier League but I thought we were excellent today, particularly in the first half.

"It's a tough one for us today and we have to detail down the set pieces, but we'll go again."

A point sees Burnley move one clear of the bottom three, but seven of their next eight fixtures are against the current top seven in the Premier League table, with the other at home to ninth-placed Swansea City.
