Good evening and welcome to our live coverage of the Premier League clash between Newcastle United and Everton. Kickoff is just under an hour away, but we'll have team news, manager quotes and more for you before then.

Newcastle have had no trouble scoring goals of late, but conceding them has been their problem. The Magpies have let in 10 in their last two games, seven of which Arsenal put past them in their last league outing.

Their recent slump has left them in 15th place in the Premier League table, just two points off the relegation zone. However, victory today can move them five points clear of Wigan Athletic in 18th place.

They have an impressive record against tonight's opponents, losing just one of the last 10 meetings between them. However, they'll have to do it without the influential Demba Ba, who has been given permission to hold talks with Chelsea.

Everton are in good form and were very unlucky to go down 2-1 to Chelsea in their last league outing. Talismanic midfielder Marouane Fellaini returns from suspension for them, but fellow midfielder Darron Gibson is out with a thigh strain.

David Moyes: "Everybody will probably agree that they are surprised Newcastle haven’t done a little bit better. When you take into consideration the Europa League and Premier League games, it can take its toll in the first three or four months of the season.

"People will think it’s just a game on a Thursday and a game on a Sunday but it is very hard to explain. Once you have the group games out of the way it becomes a little bit easier.

"But Alan has got a good team and he showed it last season. They might be a bit like Everton and improve in the second half of the season and still find themselves in a lofty position."

Alan Pardew: "Everton have had a great 2012.

"I think I saw a stat which said they were the third best Premier League team in the calendar year.

"We played them at the back-end of last season when we were on a roll and they beat us. So we know how strong they are and would not underestimate them."

So there you have it, Shola Ameobi and Papiss Cisse both make the Newcastle starting XI, while Everton have Fellaini back from suspension and skipper Phil Neville back from injury.

Right, it's prediction time. I think a score draw is most likely but if any side are going to edge it, it will be Everton. Moyes's side are unlucky not to be up there with the top three based on they way they have performed in the first half of the season, and with Fellaini returning they pose a real goal threat.

Everton's local rivals Liverpool are also in Premier League action tonight, taking on Newcastle's arch enemies Sunderland at Anfield. You can follow that game with Matt Law here.

A couple of interesting facts for you - Newcastle have conceded more headed goals than any other Premier League side this season, while Everton have hit the woodwork more times than anyone else in the division.

Ba's move to Chelsea was the big news ahead of this game. For the record, that is now all but completed, with Pardew offering his blessing to the Senegal international. You can read our report on that here.

Only Manchester United have scored more times than Everton this season, so there's bound to be goals in this one, especially if Baines and Pienaar can get some decent crosses into Fellaini and Jelavic.

Moyes's side have not recorded back-to-back away wins since the season before last, so maybe they are overdue a result. The same could be said about Newcastle, who put three past both Man United and Arsenal yet still managed to finish up losers.

Newcastle get the match underway.

Oh my word! What a start from Newcastle! Krul played a long ball forward into the Everton penalty area directly from a free kick. The ball took a bounce that wrong-footed Baines and Cisse lobbed Tim Howard with a header. Poor defending from the Blues! They did not look organised at the back there.

SAVE! Baines hits one of his trademark free kicks from outside the box forcing Krul into a good save on his left. I think that would have curled inside the post. Corner to Everton.

CHANCE! Everton find Jelavic in the danger area but Baines goes for the same ball and the chance goes begging. The Croatian's first touch is poor, allowing Krul to smother the ball.

Half-chance for Newcastle as Ameobi gets in behind the Everton back line and tries to find Cisse in the danger area. A vital interception from Distin denies the Magpies a goalscoring opportunity. The next goal looks more likely to go to the hosts.

Great run by Obertan. He covered the length of the pitch before Baines closed him down, sending the ball out for a Newcastle throw in Everton's half.

Newcastle have been the better side in the opening stages. The Magpies have looked dangerous going forward while Everton are disorganised at the back and still reeling from that shocking start. 1-0 is a fair reflection of the game thus far.

Baines sends in a free kick that doesn't quite find the head of Fellaini. It rebounds to Pienaar outside of the area, but the South African loses possession and Newcastle surge forward.

Half-chance for Everton from yet another set piece. Baines finds Naismith in the box, but the Scot heads the ball against the ground and it bounces harmlessly into the arms of Krul.

CHANCE! Santon produces a vital block to deny Fellaini. The Belgian found space in the area and was about to let fly, but the defender go his body in the way to preserve his team's advantage.

Everton are starting to settle into the game now. It was a good team move that led to that chance for Fellaini. Jelavic played a reverse ball to the Belgian before he exchanged passes with Pienaar.

OFF THE POST! Perch jumps highest in the box following a Vurnon Anita free kick but his header comes back off the woodwork. Tim Howard would have been well beaten there!

CHANCE! A lovely move between Baines and Pienaar results in an opportunity for the South African, but Krul is quick off his line to make a decent save. Newcastle eventually clear the danger.

So there was a let-off for Everton when that Perch header came back off the post, but it looks like only a matter of time before they get on the scoresheet. I can't see this staying at 1-0!

Half-chance for the Magpies as Santon goes on a run along the left and whips a neat cross into the box. Cisse should have gotten his head to that!

PENALTY APPEAL! Ameobi tumbles in the area under Phil Neville's challenge and appeals for a penalty! The referee waves away his protests, and I think that was the correct decision. The Everton skipper got the ball... just!

BOOKING! Cisse gets the first yellow card of the game for going in late on Baines. He clattered into the England man and can have no complaints about that one.

That was a fantastic strike from Baines! The England international finds the back of the net with an absolute thunderbolt from well outside the area. That was an impressive free kick even by his standards!

One minute of stoppage time to be played.

We go into the break at 1-1 here at St James' Park. The first half was a story of two free kicks. Everton's inability to defend an early one saw them fall behind to a Cisse header, but Baines found the back of the net from a set piece in the 43rd minute to draw Everton level.

Newcastle have certainly had their moments tonight, but Everton have had the better of the possession despite their shaky start. I think there are more goals to come in the second half.

The second half is underway.

Everton go straight on the attack in the second half. Jelavic grapples with Coloccini in the penalty area and the whistle goes for a foul against the Croatian.

BOOKING! Heitinga goes into the book for a foul on Ameobi. The Dutchman went in with his arms raised there, so the ref made the right call. Marveaux drives the resulting free kick into the wall.

Good pressure from Newcastle as Ameobi curls in a deft cross, which hits Distin and goes behind for a corner to the Magpies.

BOOKING! Williamson is booked for mowing down Jelavic. Fellaini commits a foul as Everton take the resulting free kick to ground the attack to a halt.

There's a tussle going on in the Newcastle area as Everton prepare to take a corner. Jelavic holds his face appearing to have been clipped by Coloccini's flailing arm. Nothing more than handbags I think and the ref seems to agree.

CHANCE! How did Ameobi miss that? It was a great ball over the top by Marveaux and the striker's first touch was excellent. He got in behind Distin but dragged his shot wide from close range!

EVERTON SUBSTITUTION: Victor Anichebe on for Steven Naismith. He's a real impact player with a good record against the Magpies.

Another fantastic goal for Everton. The Blues went on the counter-attack and the ball ended up with Jelavic along the left. He played a low ball into the box and Anichebe was on hand to slide the ball past Krul!

SAVE! Obertan goes on a mazy run and forces a good save from Howard at his near post. Heitinga hacks the ball behind for a corner.

NEWCASTLE SUBSTITUTION: Bigirimana on for Obertan. The Magpies will no doubt be hoping their change will be as effective as Everton's.

BOOKING Tiote is booked for hacking Jagielka. The Everton defender looked in some pain after that but he is on his feet again now.

CHANCE! Cisse almost gets Newcastle back on level terms. The big striker gets his head to a cross then pokes the ball towards goal from the ground, but Howard saves on his line.

CHANCE! Fellaini attempts to lob Krul but the back-peddling keeper tips his effort over the bar and catches the resulting corner from Baines.

Fellaini goes down right on the edge of the area and wins a free kick. It was Bigirimana who brought him down, and he did so right in Baines's territory!

SHOT! It wasn't far away! Baines's effort goes wide to the right. Krul gave him plenty of space there but there was too much curl on it.

NEWCASTLE SUBSTITUTION: Sammy Ameobi on for Tiote. I think he would have been sent off had he stayed on. He's already on a booking and tempers are flaring here.

Neville and Anichebe go for the same ball and there's a clash of heads. The latter was down injured for some time and there's blood coming from Neville's head.

Both players are on their feet now and look okay to continue. I was sure at least one of them had a concussion!

SAVE! Santon surges into the box and tries to beat Howard at his near post, but the American keeper is equal to his strike, turning it behind for a corner.

CHANCE! Newcastle are piling on the pressure now as they go in search for an equaliser. Marveaux's effort is blocked by Heitinga and Santon's long-range follow-up is gathered up by Howard.

NEWCASTLE SUBSTITUTION: Perch makes way for promising youngster Ranger. Could he be the Magpies' super sub?

EVERTON SUBSTITUTION: Oviedo replaces Jelavic. The striker goes off to a good reception from the travelling supporters. He's had a decent game!

Six minutes of stoppage time to be played. Not the kind of number Moyes was hoping to see on the official's board!

Good composure by Everton to keep the hosts at bay. The chances aren't falling for Newcastle!

A last-ditch chance falls to Everton has Baines plays in a low ball from the left. Anichebe and Oviedo both go for it and there's confusion between the two and the opportunity goes begging.

Everton claim back-to-back away victories for the first time in two seasons thanks to a Leighton Baines rocket and a second-half strike from substitute Victor Anichebe. They did it the hard way after falling being to Papiss Cisse's early header.
