Germany vs. Netherlands friendly cancelled after stadium in Hannover evacuated

The international friendly between Germany and the Netherlands is cancelled after a suspicious suitcase was reportedly found near the stadium in Hannover.

The international friendly between Germany and the Netherlands has been cancelled after the HDI stadium in Hannover was evacuated over security concerns.

The two fierce rivals were due to go head to head in a non-competitive match this evening, but police have confirmed that the game will no longer take place.

According to The AP, the authorities have begun evacuating people from the stadium over security concerns after a suspicious suitcase was found near the stadium.

It has also been reported by DW Sports that trains travelling away from the stadium have been stopped and people have been told to leave the venue on foot.

Fears have been heightened over the last few days after 129 people were killed by terrorists in six separate locations in Paris last Friday.

The Stade de France was one venue targeted as three suicide bombers blew themselves up outside of the ground when the national team were playing Germany in an international friendly.

Last night, the friendly between Belgium and Spain in Brussels was cancelled as the country is at a high risk of threat after French investigators discovered that one of the people involved in last week's attacks is a Belgian national.
