Manchester City, Borussia Monchengladbach tie rearranged for Wednesday night

Manchester City will face Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday in their rearranged Champions League tie after the original fixture was called off due to bad weather.

Manchester City's postponed Champions League group-stage tie against Borussia Monchengladbach has been rearranged for Wednesday evening.

This evening's match at the Etihad Stadium was called off shortly before kickoff due to bad weather, officials deciding that it was unsafe to proceed with supporters' and players' safety in mind.

UEFA chiefs held a meeting at 9.30pm this evening to determine when best to pencil in the new fixture, with the preference for it being staged at some stage this week to avoid further disruption, and both teams have now revealed that the game has been pushed back by 24 hours to 7.45pm on Wednesday.

Gladbach are understood to have pushed for the game to be staged around an hour earlier, with one eye on their Bundesliga meeting against Werder Bremen at the weekend, but City were unable to facilitate the request because of a lack of stewards and staff being available at that time.

The other match in Group C ended with Barcelona beating Celtic 7-0 at Camp Nou to kick off their European campaign in style.
