Manchester City 'told to pay £30m for Jonny Evans'

West Bromwich Albion will only sell Jonny Evans to Manchester City if a bid of £30m is tabled, according to a report.

Manchester City have reportedly been quoted a figure of £30m by West Bromwich Albion for top central-defensive target Jonny Evans.

The Northern Ireland international recently emerged as a surprise option for Pep Guardiola, who has made no secret that he hopes to further strengthen his backline this summer.

City are understood to have made a second bid of £22m, but Albion boss Tony Pulis has warned that he has no reason to sell Evans while he still has time to run on his contract.

According to The Times it will take £30m to prise the 29-year-old away from The Hawthorns, with Guardiola now deciding whether to push ahead with his interest.

Asked about the ongoing speculation, Pulis told Sky Sports News: "I've spoken about Jonny. I hope and pray he stays, and fingers crossed he does."

Evans, who has been with West Brom since 2015, has yet to feature in the Premier League this season due to a hamstring injury.
