Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Newcastle United

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Manchester United will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they travel to Newcastle United on Saturday night.

The Red Devils have lost two of their three Premier League matches this season and suffered a 6-1 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur before the international break.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will be determined to put three points on the board this weekend ahead of a tough trip to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up United's latest injury and suspension news.

Axel Tuanzebe

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: October 17 (vs. Newcastle United)

Axel Tuanzebe is now back training on the grass following a long-term foot injury, but it would be a surprise if he was thrown straight back into action this weekend, having been on the sidelines for a long period.

Phil Jones

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Versatile defender Phil Jones has not featured for United since January due to a long-term knee problem, and the Englishman will also not be involved on Saturday night.

Edinson Cavani

Status: Out
Type of injury: Self-isolation
Possible return date: October 20 (vs. PSG)

Edinson Cavani, who joined United on transfer deadline day, will not be available to make his debut against the Magpies as he is currently in self-isolation after arriving from France. The Uruguay international could therefore make his first outing for the club against his former side PSG on October 20.

Harry Maguire

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: October 17 (vs. Newcastle United)

Solskjaer said during Friday's press conference that Harry Maguire picked up "a knock" before being sent off for England against Denmark on Wednesday, meaning that the Red Devils captain could miss out.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

Anthony Martial

Status: Out
Possible return date: October 20 (vs. PSG)

Martial will not be available for United's upcoming league games with Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal following his red card against Tottenham last time out. The suspension only applies to domestic games, though, and he will therefore be available for the Champions League clash with PSG on October 20.
