Ander Herrera has said that playing in Manchester United's 7-0 victory over Los Angeles Galaxy last night was "a dream".
The 29-year-old Spaniard laid on two assists for Ashley Young in the rout, while Wayne Rooney and Reece James also notched braces.
"It was a dream for me to play in the red shirt – I will keep this shirt with me always. I hope this is the start of a lot of games for United," he told the club's official website.
"It wasn't only me in this game though, I think the whole team enjoyed the game and did well. It's the first match and we have done good things. It's a good step and we're very happy."
Tens of thousands of fans turned out at the Pasadena Rose Bowl to watch United thrash their American counterparts, and Herrara paid tribute to the supporters.
"There were over 80,000 fans to support us – it's unbelievable. We thank them a lot," he added.
Herrera joined United from Athletic Bilbao last month for £29m.
