Jose Mourinho hails Manchester United fans

Jose Mourinho pays tribute to the Manchester United fans for their support during Saturday's pre-season clash with Wigan Athletic.

Jose Mourinho has paid tribute to the Manchester United fans for their support during Saturday's pre-season clash with Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.

The Red Devils fans travelled in their numbers to catch a glimpse of Mourinho's first Man United outfit, and a comfortable afternoon saw the 20-time English champions record a 2-0 victory in the friendly.

The Portuguese manager has branded the support "absolutely fantastic" and has vowed to "give them everything" in return.

"Best of all was something that I never had before which was a friendly match which I could call a training session against opposition and yet there were so many supporters who gave permanent support to the team," Mourinho told MUTV.

"There was the manifestation of happiness [from them] about a few things they could see in the team which was absolutely fantastic. As I said in my press conference I will try to give them everything and I'm sure they will continue to give amazing support to the team."

Man United will now head to China to face Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on July 22, before taking on rivals Manchester City on July 25 in Beijing.
