Manchester United's Louis van Gaal: 'We can finish third in the Premier League'

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is confident that the team can finish third in the Premier League.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that his team are capable of finishing third in the Premier League this season.

The Red Devils are currently sixth in the standings, one point behind fourth-placed Manchester City and five adrift of Arsenal, who occupy third.

United's inconsistent season has sparked reports that Van Gaal will be sacked in the summer, but the Dutchman is focused on winning silverware as his team remain in the FA Cup.

"Still we are capable of being in the top three in the league," Van Gaal told reporters. "We believe in that. The players believe in that. We can win the FA Cup.

"So we have a lot to fight for. We have five matches at home, three away, which is also a benefit."

United will take on Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
