The agent of Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has reportedly flown out to Barcelona to discuss terms with the Spanish giants.
Mata is out of contract at Old Trafford this summer and is now able to hold talks with foreign clubs over a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
United are understood to have offered the 30-year-old a 12-month extension to his current deal, which Mata is willing to consider having settled into the area.
However, the Spaniard is also ready to explore other options before making his final decision, having also been linked with Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona have made the first move to sign the playmaker by speaking to his agent in Catalonia.
Mata has scored five goals in 23 appearances for United so far this season and 44 in 209 outings since joining the club in 2014.
