Manchester United are reportedly in discussions with the wife and agent of Paris Saint-Germain striker Mauro Icardi over a potential move to Old Trafford this summer.
The Red Devils are planning to sign a new forward before the end of the transfer window, even if Cristiano Ronaldo remains at the club, due to the lack of options available to head coach Erik ten Hag.
Benjamin Sesko had been strongly linked with a switch to Old Trafford, but the highly-rated youngster has now agreed to join RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg next summer.
Meanwhile, the club have dropped their interest in Bologna's Marko Arnautovic despite being keen to sign him as another option in the final third of the field.
According to TyC Sports, Icardi has now emerged as an option for the 20-time English champions, with the Argentina international being told that he is free to leave Paris this summer.

The report claims that Man United are in talks with his agent and wife, Wanda Nara, over the possibility of a switch to Old Trafford this summer.
Icardi joined PSG from Inter Milan in 2019, initially on loan, and he has represented the French giants on 92 occasions in all competitions, scoring 38 goals and contributing 10 assists.
The South American, who scored 124 goals and registered 29 goals in 219 matches for Inter, still has after two years left to run on his contract in the French capital.
However, PSG boss Christophe Galtier has revealed that Icardi has been told that he is surplus to requirements at the club this summer, with the player being left out of the squad against Clermont in Ligue 1 last weekend.
"I saw Mauro at the start of the week. His absence last week was for tactical reasons, I told him that I want to reduce the size of the squad and not work with 25 outfield players. The club is working closely with Mauro to find the best possible solution," Galtier told reporters.

"He's had very little game time and I think it would be best for him to get back up and running. He hasn't suddenly lost everything [he can do] but it's true that it's been complicated for the last two years. Being able to change location, to find a more favourable environment, can help you get back on track in your career."
Icardi made 30 appearances for PSG during the 2021-22 campaign, but he only found the back of the net on five occasions in all competitions.
"He is under contract with the club for another two years. To release a player, you have to pay a lot of money and we are not in that situation," Wanda Nara recently told Corriere dello Sport.
"These are things that happen when you change coaches and the new coach makes other decisions. That's why there are also changes or transfers, it can happen.
"But there are many players who find themselves in this situation, in this club and in others. I am the only one who knows things. Not like others who talk without knowing anything."
Man United have also reportedly been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid forward Alvaro Morata this summer.
