Ashley Young will reportedly be released by Manchester United in the summer with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not planning on offering him a new contract.

Manchester United will reportedly release Ashley Young when his contract expires at the end of the season with no talks about a new deal set to take place.

The 34-year-old joined the Old Trafford club from Watford in 2011 and has made 258 appearances in that time, scoring 19 goals and being named club captain this season.

According to the Evening Standard, Young expects to be released at the end of his contract and privately accepts that he will have to leave the club after nine years.

The versatile midfielder and defender will be free to talk to foreign clubs about a free transfer when the January transfer window opens next month, provided he does not sign a new deal.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer granted Young a new deal last summer, but the former England man has seen Brandon Williams move ahead of him in the left-back pecking order this season.

Young has made 11 appearances for United in the Premier League this season and 15 appearances in all competitions.
