Jose Mourinho: 'Borussia Dortmund were the better team'

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho admits that Borussia Dortmund deserved to beat his side 4-1 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has admitted that Borussia Dortmund deserved their 4-1 win over his side in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final tie.

Four goals from Robert Lewandowski saw Dortmund romp to victory at the Westfalenstadion on Wednesday night.

"I think Dortmund were the best team by far, they won every individual battle on the pitch, they were stronger physically and mentally so I think they deserve it," Mourinho told Sky Sports News.

"Everything happened in a short space of time. We lost easy possession and we couldn't cope with their counter attack and their transition."

Madrid host Dortmund at the Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg on Tuesday.
