Mark Cooper: Swindon Town "all over the place" in Barnsley defeat

Swindon Town chief Mark Cooper admits that his side "defended terribly" and were "all over the place" in their 4-1 reverse away at Barnsley on the weekend.

Mark Cooper has accused his Swindon Town players of failing to do the "ugly stuff" in their heavy defeat at Barnsley.

The Robins suffered just a second League One defeat of the campaign when falling 4-1 at Oakwell on Saturday afternoon.

After seeing Swindon throw away a one-goal lead, Cooper was critical of his players who he believes simply failed to turn up on the day.

"We got off to a good start and got given a goal," he is quoted as saying by the Western Daily Press. "Prospects looked good for us at that point and we had been passing the ball around well.

"But after that we defended terribly. We were all over the place at times. We can do the nice side of things really well, but at places like this you've also got to do the ugly stuff.

"Too many players didn't take enough responsibility and I didn't like that. We have had an encouraging start to the season, but for whatever reason the players didn't perform here."

Swindon, now down in ninth place, play host to Burton Albion in their next outing.
