Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio has successfully undergone surgery after picking up a horror injury on Sunday evening.
The Argentine fractured his fibula and dislocated ligaments in his left ankle during a collision in the second half of Villarreal's 1-1 draw at Getafe.
Images demonstrating the seriousness of the problem soon emerged and Yellow Submarine boss Marcelino told reporters immediately after the match that it was "a really, really serious injury".
The defender has since undergone an operation in the Spanish capital, however, which has been described as a success.
Initial reports have claimed that the 24-year-old will be out of action for at least six months.
