West Ham United reportedly have a 18-month loan approach for Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa rejected.

West Ham United have reportedly had a loan approach for Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa rejected.

The 25-year-old, nicknamed 'Gabigol', enjoyed a brilliant 2021 campaign in front of goal, netting 29 times in 43 appearances across all competitions.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers have held talks with Flamengo over the past few days regarding a potential 18-month loan deal for Gabigol; however, the Brazilian outfit rejected their approach.

Flamengo will not entertain any loan proposals for their star man, but they may consider cash offers which match their valuation of the striker.

In addition, Sky Sports News reports that Gabigol has been watching all of West Ham's matches and he has been impressed with the work achieved by David Moyes since he took charge at the London Stadium.

The 17-cap Brazil international, who has scored a total of 104 goals in 147 appearances for Flamengo, is keen to challenge himself again in Europe, having previously had spells with Inter Milan and Benfica.
