Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez insists that his side need to be more "ruthless" as they try to cause an upset against Newcastle United this evening.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has insisted that his side need to be more "ruthless" in front of goal.

The Latics take on Newcastle United at St James's Park tonight and the Spanish boss believes that creating chances but failing to convert them is a "worry" for the North West side.

"At home we have been creating a very good number of opportunities and that's always the worry if you're creating chances and not scoring goals," said Martinez.

"It is a moment in the season that we want to score goals and take that responsibility as a whole team, not just the forward line.

"I do feel away from home we have been performing consistently every game and it is just a matter of trying to take the opportunities and be a bit ruthless defending our goal so we can get the results."

Wigan currently reside in 15th place in the Premier League table, two points above the relegation zone.
