Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has confirmed that Danny Batth will be out for the rest of the season after a scan revealed a stress fracture in his foot.
The defender could be out for up to three months, which would mean that he would be unavailable for the Championship playoff should Wolves qualify.
Batth has been a key figure under Jackett, starting every league game for Wolves since the former Millwall boss took charge in May 2013.
"Unfortunately injuries do happen, but Danny has had a very good season," Jackett told the club's official website.
"I know how determined Danny will be to come back strongly and how fit he will come back for pre-season. It is unfortunate he is going to miss the end of the season but he will be working very hard over the summer to get things right."
Wolves travel to Wigan Athletic on Saturday before hosting Millwall on the final day of the season.
