Gethin Jenkins is likely to miss Wales' World Cup opener against South Africa on Sunday.

The loose-head has been struggling with injuries since January and could miss the Springboks clash, along with fly-half Stephen Jones and back-row forward Ryan Jones.

"Ryan's in the best state, then Stephen, then Gethin," said coach Warren Gatland.

"They're progressing well and hopefully they're going to be fit for selection, if not for this game then definitely for the second game."

The World Cup kicks off on Friday when hosts New Zealand take on Tonga.
