Tomas Berdych sees off John Isner in Paris

Number six seed Tomas Berdych defeats America's John Isner to reach round four of the French Open.

Tomas Berdych continued his quest for a first Grand Slam title by recording a 6-4 6-4 6-4 victory over John Isner in the fourth round of the French Open this afternoon.

The Czech Republic number one broke at the first time of asking in the opening set before going on to hold his remaining service games to take a one-set lead.

It was a similar story for the number six seed in the following two sets, as early breaks of the Isner serve proved decisive.

Berdych, who reached the semi-finals at Roland Garros in 2010, will now face either Ernests Gulbis or former world number one Roger Federer in the next round.
