Rafael Nadal to make comeback in Chile

Rafael Nadal will compete in next month's Vina del Mar Open in Chile.

World number three Rafael Nadal has confirmed that his long-awaited comeback from a knee injury will be at next month's Vina del Mar Open in Chile.

The Spaniard has not played since crashing out at the second round of Wimbledon to unseeded Pole Lukas Rosol.

Nadal says that he is looking forward to playing in front of his fans in Chile.

"I am delighted to confirm my participation in the tournament in Vina
del Mar in Chile," said the 26-year-old.

"I would like to thank the organisers of the tournament for this invitation and say that I have many fans in the Andean country.

"Finally I can go in person to be with them and play my first tournament after the injury that has kept me away [for] so long."

The tournament gets underway on February 4.
