Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly identified a three-man shortlist to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Arsenal captain.
The Gabon international was dropped from the squad in their victory over Southampton on Saturday for a reported disciplinary breach, and Aubameyang's future at the Emirates is in doubt amid strong links with a move to Barcelona.
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has suggested that Aubameyang's captaincy is now in question due to the disciplinary action, let alone the uncertainty surrounding his future with the club.
The Mirror reports that Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White and Gabriel are all contenders to replace Aubameyang as Arsenal's captain with all three of them stepping up to become leaders, filling the void left by David Luiz at the end of last season.
Ramsdale, White and Gabriel have all contributed to help the Gunners have one of the best home defensive records in the Premier League so far this campaign, something that Arteta will be keen to emulate away from the Emirates also.
Aubameyang has featured in 14 of Arsenal's 16 domestic outings this season, scoring four goals in that time, but does look likely to be heading for the exit from the club.
