Arsene Wenger: 'I have no plans to sell Jack Wilshere'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists that he wants to keep Jack Wilshere at the club for as long as possible, despite the 23-year-old's injury problems.

Arsene Wenger has outlined his desire to keep Jack Wilshere at Arsenal for as long as possible.

The 23-year-old has struggled throughout his career with injuries and has missed a large portion of the campaign as he sustained an ankle injury against Manchester United in November.

Wilshere returned in the final month of the campaign and scored against West Bromwich Albion on the last day of the season.

However, the England international is not guaranteed a starting spot in Wenger's side for the FA Cup final at Wembley, leading to speculation that the Gunners could cash in on the midfielder in the summer, which has been refuted by the Frenchman.

Wenger told reporters: "I made Jack Wilshere start at 17 years of age. That means that you cannot show a bigger desire of wanting a player. We have always extended his contract and we have been very patient with all his injuries.

"At some stage I think he must feel wanted. We always stood by him through every difficult moment. Does that mean we want him to stay here for a longer period? Yes, as we would like to benefit from his talent now."

Wilshere has made 21 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions this season, scoring two goals.
