Alex Song has claimed that he rejected the chance to join clubs that are competing in this season's Champions League when he agreed his switch to West Ham United.
The former Arsenal midfielder, who is on a season-long loan at Upton Park from Barcelona, was linked throughout the summer with clubs in France and Italy.
However, he has revealed that the lure of a return to the Premier League was too strong to resist.
"West Ham, some people were saying that I am crazy. For me it was a privilege to come here. It was a very big pleasure to have two or three clubs who are playing in the Champions League wanted me to sign," the Cameroon international told Sky Sports News.
"For me it was not easy decision but I did it because I want to come back to England. I wanted to come back to where I started from. I think it was very important for me to come back here and just try to play because this league gives me a lot and I just want to give some back."
The 27-year-old has made three appearances for the East Londoners this season.
