Live Commentary: Juventus (0)0-2(4) Bayern Munich - as it happened

Live text commentary from the Champions League quarter-finals as Juventus went down 2-0 at home to Bayern Munich with the Germans advancing 4-0 on aggregate.

Juventus hosted Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final hoping to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg in Germany.

In a first half of few chances the sides went in level, but it was a completely different Bayern side that came out for the second 45.

They controlled the play and eased any concerns with a goal from Mario Mandzukic before Claudio Pizarro made it 4-0 on aggregate late on.

Read how Bayern Munich reached the semi-finals below with our live text commentary.

Good evening everyone. Are you all ready for another thrilling night of Champions League football? I've just about got my breath back from yesterday's action.

Just a quick recap of what did happen last night. Juventus followed Manchester United and Barcelona as the third team to score twice in injury time as they went from 2-1 down in 91 minutes against Malaga to win 3-2. It was as if their name was already written on the trophy!

They are joined by Real Madrid who made hard work of Galatasaray after going up 4-0 on aggregate. The Turkish side got three goals back before a final goal from the Spaniards put them through to the semi-finals.

However, back to tonight's action we go and before I go any further I'll bring you the team news from Turin.

JUVENTUS XI: Buffon; Chiellini, Barzagli, Bonucci; Pogba, Marchisio, Padoin, Pirlo, Asamoah; Vucinic, Quagliarella

BAYERN XI: Neuer; Dante, Van Buyten, Lahm, Alaba; Javi Martinez, Schweinsteiger; Robben, Muller, Ribery; Mandzukic

SUBSTITUTES:

Juventus: Storari, Martin Caceres, De Ceglie, Peluso, Giaccherini, Isla, Matri

Bayern: Starke, Rafinha, Boateng, Shaqiri, Luiz Gustavo, Pizarro, Gomez

So it's largely as expected from both coaches I'd say. Simone Padoin comes in for the suspended Stephan Lichtsteiner and Paul Pogba is named in the XI in place of the also-suspended Arturo Vidal.

It'll be 3-5-2 by the looks of it. Padoin on one side and Pogba will come into the middle. He was impressive last time out and could still have a say with his ability from midfield. Up front, Fabio Quagliarella is given the nod to start with Mirko Vucinic - Alessandro Matri is on the bench.

This Bayern side hardly need an introduction. Having wrapped up the Bundesliga title at the weekend they can now put 100% into the Champions League. The thought that they hadn't already been doing that must be frightening for the sides left in the competition. Arjen Robben, so disappointing against Chelsea last season, gets a start and Daniel van Buyten is preferred ahead of Jerome Boateng at the back. Mario Mandzukic, who has kept out none other than Mario Gomez for so much of the season, keeps his place up front.

There is no need to beat around the bush: these are two of Europe's giants and they have been for many, many years. The Germans are fourth on the all-time list of winners, with four triumphs (1974, 1975, 1976, 2001), while Juve are a little further down the list, but their two wins (1985, 1996) are not to be sniffed at.

As well as wins, both sides have finished as runners-up on five occasions each. They have real pedigree, and that is why this tie is far from over. Bayern still have work to do.

Perhaps most importantly in terms of recent history, Bayern have reached two of the last three Champions League finals. They lost both and with a very similar group of players still they will be very hungry to right that wrong.

As for games played between the two teams, Bayern are on top of that too. They have met five times in the past, with Bayern triumphing on three occasions compared to Juve's one. Obviously one of those was just last week, but there you go.

Apart from last week the sides met most recently in 2009 in Turin and Bayern were 4-1 victors on that occasion. Obviously what happens on the night is all that counts, but history doesn't favour the Italians.

It'll be interesting to see how the Juve back three cope with the dynamic attacking threat of Mandzukic, Robben, Franck Ribery and Toni Kroos. I suspect they'll need a lot of help from the wingbacks because if Bayern score first I can't see Juve getting four.

Let's have a look at how the two side's reached this stage. Juve topped a very tricky Group E, seeing off Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk in the process. That gave them Celtic in the round of 16, who they dispatched 5-0 on aggregate. The defeat to Bayern is the most trouble they've been in all tournament - can they recover?

Beyern's group wasn't as tricky, but they managed to see off Valencia to win it. Their reward for that was the tough tie with Arsenal. A 3-1 win at the Emirates had everyone writing the Gunners off, but in fact they relied on away goals as they were beaten 2-0 at home. That's a solid example of how you just never know with this tournament.

So with two teams' progress already decided - Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid - two more will make it tonight. As well as this game Barcelona are hosting Paris Saint-Germain after the first leg ended 2-2. It's all to play for there and, as long as Bayern don't score early on, it is here too.

With about 10 minutes to go until kickoff, let's have a look at tonight's odds. To win the game, the odds are fairly close - Juve are at about 2-1 with Bayern slightly shorter on 6-4.

However, to qualify outright - remember, that means anything other than a Juventus win by three goals, or four goals if Bayern score - the Germans are naturally heavy favourites. It's 1-12 if you fancy them, while Juve can be had at roughly 7-1.

An interesting stat, as the players emerge from the tunnel to a rapturous atmosphere in Turin, is that these two sides have been awarded more corners than any other so far. Bayern are way ahead with 82, with Juve on 60.

Few anthems get you more in the mood for football than the Champions League one. The players observe it, shake hands and take their place for photos. Just minutes away now. Jupp Heynckes looking very calm indeed.

KICKOFF! Juve get us underway, here's hoping for a fine football match over the next 90 and a bit minutes.

Just a reminder, I'll be sure to keep you updated with the action from the Camp Nou as well.

There's an early chance for Vucinic, who has a bit of space just outside the box but in trying to find the bottom corner with some curl only succeeds in giving Manuel Neuer his first touch of the game. He gathers easily but it's a promising start from Juventus.

Early on the Juve wing-backs Asamoah and Padoin are finding acres of space against the much narrower Bayern formation. They are key if the Old Lady are to turn this around. Lahm with a cynical foul as Juventus looked to break but he escapes a booking. Intelligent by the German side's captain.

BOOKING: Juventus have pressed much higher so far, with much more aggression than they had in Munich. Giorgio Chiellini is down waving his arms after a 50-50 with Mandzukic - if he's hurt it's from his own swing that caught the Bayern man's leg. Mandzukic is booked but that's outrageously harsh! He'll miss the first leg of the semi if Bayern get there now.

Claudio Marchisio gets his first run at goal and shoots from about 25 yards. It goes high and wide from his left foot when he could have threaded Quagliarella through instead. A bit wasteful there from the Italian.

CHANCE! Big early chance for Bayern. Ribery plays a one-two with Robben and gets in a cross towards Mandzukic, but Barzagli just about gets a touch and it bounces off the striker and out for a goal kick. Good defending in the end and just a hint of the threat Bayern have.

Bayern are seeing more of the ball in the last few minutes, however Juve break through Pogba. The former United man tries too much, though, and Bayern win it back. The Germans are very patient with the ball and are happy to go back to the defence or Neuer is the right ball isn't on.

BOOKING: There have been quite a few petty fouls early on here. Leonardo Bonucci goes into the book for hauling down Thomas Muller who had got ahead of him. It's a free kick in a decent spot deep and to the right of the box. In the end there were about four Bayern players who had gone in front from Bastian Schweinsteiger's ball but no-one can get a touch.

Now Bayern are on top of the game. All the action is happening in Juve's half in the last few minutes, as Ribery's direct running down the line earns his side a corner, that Schweinsteiger will take.

Gianluigi Buffon could have let the ball go out for a goal kick from the corner, but instead he decides to punch it with one fist. Chiellini is alert and can clear, but it's right back to Bayern who come forward again. The home fans are whistling every German spell of possession at the moment. Their side have now resorted to playing on the break.

Andrea Pirlo has looked a bit off the pace in the opening 20 minutes. He does well to earn a foul after nearly losing the ball, but then Juve give it away again. Pogba wins it back with a display of strength and pace on Ribery, but he then gives away a free kick just outside the Bayern box and the Germans can slow it down again.

It's selfish from Robben there, after he linked up well with Lahm down the right hand side. He cuts on to his left foot and blazes the ball over from about 25 yards or further. Wasteful isn't a word that you can level at his teammates, but you can him on occasion.

Juve have a free kick in a really dangerous position as Lahm wins the ball but goes through Marchisio's legs first. Right on the edge of the box, this is...

SAVE! Pirlo goes for full power to the goalkeeper's side of the wall and a very strong hand form Neuer punches it over the bar. If it was in the corner he might not have got there, though.

Juventus are now seeing a bit more of the ball. Bayern aren't closing down Pirlo, and he's spraying balls left and right at the moment. Vucinic can't quite combine with Pogba and the ball goes to Neuer. The Frenchman is the most attacking of Juve's midfielders early on.

Juventus are right in the face of Bayern now when they get on the ball. They'll need to keep that up all game as it's working when they attempt it. Vucinic is playing well, dropping into the hole in the midfield. He sprays wide to Pogba who puts in an unbelievable cross right across the six-yard box but none of his teammates are there to stick it in!

The more the minutes tick away the more important a Bayern goal becomes. Marchisio closes down a Lahm pass, it falls to Quagliarella and he goes for goal from outside the box but it flies over.

Juventus win another free kick but the Bayern defence has been very alert to the balls swung in so far. Dante and Van Buyten's ability in the air could well be why Boateng is on the bench tonight.

Lahm bursts forward as he loves to do and the ball is worked wide to Robben. His cross is headed away but Mandzukic heads down an Alaba ball to Muller, who slashes at his half-volley a bit and puts it wide. That's a shame as it was a well-worked chance.

Both sides are keeping the ball on the ground and passing well. However, there has been something of a lack of spark to create chances from both teams. Pirlo's free kick remains probably the best of the game thus far.

BAYERN SUB: Just as I mention the aerial ability of Van Buyten, he cannot continue following an earlier challenge with Quagliarella. On comes Boateng.

CHANCE! Vucinic gets in behind on the left hand side. He looks up to find Pogba in acres of space on the edge of the box, but he cannot work it onto his right foot and in the end shoots with his left but it's blocked by Dante.

A flowing passing move from Bayern, keeping the ball for a couple of minute, finally ends with an overhit pass from Ribery. On the other side Robben earns a corner off Chiellini.

SAVE! The corner is cleared as far as Alaba and he drives it first time on his left. Buffon is across well, albeit comfortably, to save. It was hit very hard but a good height for Buffon.

It doesn't look as though there'll be a goal before the break here. I don't want to say it's been tentative, but chances have been few and far between. Bonucci looks for Marchisio with a ball over the top but it's overhit and Neuer gathers. Bayern are just about on top of the possession at the moment.

Juventus are really harrying to win the ball back but this time Ribery rides the challenges to find Robben. The Dutchman cuts in again to shoot in a better position this time but he's skied it again. A couple of warning signs from the Bayern right, but as yet Robben hasn't found his range.

Another scrappy foul by Chiellini on Mandzukic - in truth the striker made a meal of it by not jumping for a header - as two minutes of added-on time are shown.

An Alaba cross is headed and half-cleared to Ribery, who takes it down with one touch and shoots low with his second, but it's right at Buffon, who rarely lets those through.

HALF-TIME: Juventus 0-0 Bayern

Well that's job half-done from Bayern. The game has been played at their pace and Juve have struggled to create chances. Bayern haven't had many themselves, but the emphasis isn't on them to score tonight. It is on Juve.

Really, it's been very even. In terms of the statistics, Juve have shaded the possession with 51-49%. Juve have had five shots to Bayern's six, with each side hitting the target twice. That said, the most alert either keeper has had to be so far was Neuer who punched away Pirlo's free kick for a corner.

In the other quarter-final it's also goalless between Barcelona and PSG. The French side have created a number of decent chances, but Barcelona, who have Messi on the bench, are currently going through on away goals.

With just a few minutes left until we get back underway, I don't expect any substitutions just yet. Antionio Conte could well look to bring on Matri should they still not have scored after about 60 minutes. For Bayern, they've been forced into a change so will probably stay put for a while.

The players are emerging from the tunnel ready for the second period. If Juve are to stand a chance, they need goals, so I expect to see a more attacking half.

Bayern get us back underway, still 2-0 up from that first leg. Juve need two to force extra time and three to win.

Nervous about the result? Want to 'Cash in your bet'? See how with William Hill.

Vicinic is brought down by about three Bayern players on the edge of the box. Pirlo will probably step up for this one too. Power or placement? You just never know...

... Placement, I guess. A couple of deflections take it harmlessly through to Neuer.

CLOSE! Quagliarella drifts into space on the left, cuts inside and shoots hard and low, but it's just a foot or so wide. Great effort. Neuer probably had it covered, but he was scrambling.

Great work from Mandzukic to skin Bonucci. Eventually a cross comes in and is blocked for a corner. Robben's effort is headed out for another one before Juve clear the danger at the second time of asking.

GOAL UPDATE! Over to the Camp Nou, and PSG have got their noses in front! Javier Pastore scores and there's a potential upset on in Spain.

Muller pips Barzagli and his cross-shot is blocked for another corner. They've had a few already in this half and are starting to get on top of the game.

Quagliarella forces Neuer into action but he was in an offside position so it wouldn't have counted. After that, Bayern are right back on the ball, pinging it about neatly.

POST! Bayern have seen out another 10 minutes of this tie. Time is desperately running out for the Italians. They try with Asamoah found down the left, but the chance ends and up the other end Robben has acres on the edge of the box but curls an effort against the post. That should be tie over.

Great battle between Vucinic and Schweinsteiger there. First the German stands his ground before winning the ball with a slide tackle, before Vucinic's strength wins it back. The last laugh goes to Schweinsteiger, though, as another well timed tackle wins the ball for his side.

With 30 minutes left you'd be a very brave person to bet against Bayern now. Despite Robben's miss this suits them at the moment and Juve have been largely outplayed in this half. They were better before the break, but haven't been creative at all in truth.

Acculmulator going well? Want to take your money now? Check out William Hill's 'CASH IN MY BET' service!

There's frustration audible around the stadium now as Juve insist on giving the ball away. It's all too easy for the German side as it stands. They're just keeping the ball around half-way and remaining patient.

GOAL! Juventus 0-1 Bayern (Mario Mandzukic)

A free kick comes in which is met by Martinez at the far post. Buffon saves the first effort and Mandzukic finishes it off with a diving header. That's game, set and match you feel.

CHANCE! Juventus need four, so Matri is getting ready on the sidelines. But for him to be effective they'll need to create chances. Instead, Bayern do and Muller somehow puts Robben's pass over the bar.

JUVENTUS SUB: Matri does come on but oddly it's Quagliarella who makes way. So still just two striekrs for the Italians.

JUVENTUS SUB: Isla now comes on in place of Padoin. He's more of a winger than Padoin is, so there'll be some sort of tactical shift by Conte you'd imagine.

It does look somewhat as though Juventus have given up the ghost. Vucinic isn't quite quick enough to react to a loose ball int eh box and Neuer gathers.

GOAL UPDATE! Barca are level at Camp Nou! Pedro has scored to make it 1-1, but the 2-2 draw from the first leg means that they're now going through on away goals.

Pogba shoots from range, but that too is easy for Neuer. This Bayern defence has been rock solid and Juve have no answer whatsoever. Mandzukic crosses to Muller and he puts an effort wide, but he doesn't seem bothered at all as he jogs back to his position.

There's no pace in this game whatsoever now. Bayern are taking their time over every throw and free kick and Juve seem happy to let them. The Italians are a beaten side, completely the opposite to Dortmund last night.

JUVENTUS SUB: Here is the last change from Conte. The anonymous Marchisio comes off and Emanuele Giaccherini comes on to the pitch.

BAYERN SUB: Here's the second change for Heynckes. Luiz Gustavo comes on for Ribery with 10 minutes to play.

Bayern look the most likely side to score next, but as I've said they're in no hurry whatsoever. As things stand Bayern, Dortmund, Real Madrid and Barcelona will play in the semi-finals. You cannot say that any of those ties won't be blockbusters.

BAYERN SUB: Goalscorer Mandzukic makes way for Claudio Pizarro. Mandzukic now won't be able to play until the second leg of the semi-final after the yellow card he picked up in the first half.

Bayern haven't done it as excitingly as Dortmund did, perhaps, but they've done exactly what was needed. Heynckes will have asked his team to go out and win 1-0 and that looks to be exactly what they've done. Neuer has hardly had a save to make since the goal.

Passes are going astray, legs are tired. It's been a long night for Juve as Robben dances his way through their defence to force Buffon into a low save to his right. He probably should have looked for Muller with a pass, but not to worry for Bayern.

Pirlo has been shut out superbly by the holding midfield pair of Schweinsteiger and Martinez tonight. He's not had a say except from free kicks.

Bayern go back to Neuer for the umpteenth time tonight. It's fizzling out and in truth has been since the goal. I wouldn't blame the referee if he blew the whistle without adding on any time.

GOAL! Juventus 0-2 Bayern (Claudio Pizarro)

Just in case it wasn't sure, it is now. Schweinsteiger spins superbly and plays in Pizarro, who steadies himself before shooting low into the bottom corner.

Check out the in-play odds with William Hill

Efficient. There's no other word to describe Bayern tonight. They've emphatically dispatched Juventus and there's a lot more to come!

FULL-TIME: Juventus 0-2 Bayern Munich (Bayern win 4-0 on aggregate)

Well, the German champions have seen off the Serie A leaders all too easily tonight. They were rarely out of second gear and are a huge, huge threat to the remaining three teams.

That's all from me. Thanks for joining me tonight and please stick around on site for reaction and analysis to tonight's Champions League action.
