Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Nottingham Forest

Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for Chelsea ahead of the FA Cup third-round tie with Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea play host to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round on Sunday afternoon as Frank Lampard looks to move a step closer to winning his first trophy as a manager.

Having come through a hectic Christmas and New Year period with seven points from four games, the game is arguably a welcome distraction from the Premier League.

However, while Lampard will look to rest several of his star players, the Englishman faces a number of selection issues ahead of the weekend's contest.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up their latest injury and suspension news ahead of the showdown at Stamford Bridge.

Fikayo Tomori

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Undisclosed
Possible return date: January 5 (vs. Forest)

Tomori was a surprise absentee from the squad against Brighton on New Year's Day. The nature of his injury is yet to be disclosed, putting his participation in doubt at the weekend.

Marcos Alonso

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Buttock
Possible return date: January 5 (vs. Forest)

Lampard has revealed that Alonso has missed the last three games due to an injury to the top of his glute. While the issue is only described as minor, the Spaniard may miss out on Sunday.

Olivier Giroud

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: January 5 (vs. Forest)

Giroud missed out on New Year's Day due to an ankle sprain. With his absence from the squad due to a potential exit already a possibility, it would be a surprise if he is named in the 18-man group.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek
