Head coach Thomas Tuchel has said that there needs to be a level of "trust" for Romelu Lukaku to show his best form at Chelsea.
The big-money arrival has only scored 12 times in all competitions this season, leading to speculation regarding a potential exit during the summer.
While Tuchel has claimed that he does not not why the Belgian is struggling in the final third, the Blues boss has outlined what needs to happen to give the 28-year-old the best chance of living up to his £97.5m price-tag.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Tuchel said: "I don't know what needs to happen. He needs to happen. Everyone needs to happen. It's the life of a professional football player at this kind of level.
"Everybody does their very best and it is the same for every player. Of course, we do the very best to integrate him and it needs to happen. He needs to happen. We need to support him and trust in what we do.
"There is not one thing that we can provide to make this happen. It's about trust, it's about commitment, about the feeling for the game, a bit of luck, game momentum. That's it."
Inter Milan and Real Madrid are said to be monitoring the situation, aware that Lukaku could be made available for transfer once Chelsea's takeover is finalised ahead of the next transfer window.
