Chelsea agree David Luiz sale

Chelsea announce that they have agreed a fee for the sale of defender David Luiz to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea have confirmed that they have agreed a fee with Paris Saint-Germain to sell David Luiz to the French champions.

The Brazil international, who moved to Stamford Bridge in 2011, underwent a medical with the Ligue 1 club earlier today.

A statement on the club's website said: "Chelsea Football Club and Paris Saint-Germain have agreed terms for the transfer of David Luiz to the French club. The move is now subject to David Luiz agreeing personal terms with PSG and passing a medical examination."

BBC Sport reports that the fee is in the region of £40m, which would make Luiz the world's most expensive defender, exceeding the £36m fee that PSG paid for Thiago Silva in 2012.
