Leon Osman closes on Everton return after foot injury

Leon Osman nears a return to the Everton first team, after three months out with a foot injury.

Everton are set to welcome back midfielder Leon Osman, who has been missing with injury for three months.

The 33-year-old split a tendon in his foot during December's defeat to Manchester City, but he is hoping to play against Manchester United in an Under-21s game this week.

Osman told reporters: "There's a reserve game tomorrow night that I hope to be involved in. We'll see tomorrow. I've trained for a week now and I'm really itching to get back involved and this is one of the steps I've got to take."

Everton face Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
