LFP president Frederic Thiriez has expressed his delight at Didier Deschamps becoming the new manager of France.
The former Marseille manager was appointed as Laurent Blanc's successor on Sunday, signing a two-year deal with the option of a further two years.
Thiriez said that Deschamps was his immediate choice to take over and thanked Blanc for his work with Les Bleus.
"Didier Deschamps is obviously the right man for the job," said Thiriez. "In this difficult context, the France national team needs a man with his character and experience.
"I said it should be him as son as Laurent Blanc had decided not to continue in the position. Obviously he can count on the unwavering support of the LFP and professional football in France.
"I would also like to express all my esteem and respect for Laurent Blanc for the work he accomplished with the squad."
Blanc took the job following France's disastrous World Cup campaign in South Africa.
