Robbie Keane has denied suggestions that he has joined LA Galaxy for "a holiday" and believes that he could play football for another five seasons.
The Republic of Ireland international left Tottenham Hotspur last month to link up with David Beckham and the Galaxy after reportedly snubbing offers to remain in the Premier League.
Keane has rubbished stories that the move represents a step backwards in his career and has targeted playing on until 2016.
"I’ve had 12 great years in the Premiership and enjoyed every moment of it. It’s a league that you want to play in and be a part of," he told talkSPORT.
"I’m lucky I’ve got a history now of playing in the Premiership and scoring goals there but there comes a point in your life when some opportunities come that you wouldn’t expect and this was one of those.
"I’m not finished. I’m not going there for a holiday, I’m going there to play football and I still think I’ve got another five years left in me."
Keane scored on his Galaxy debut, helping the side to a 2-0 victory over San Jose.
