Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge will reportedly be out of action for a month after sustaining a hip injury.
The forward withdrew from the England squad to face Lithuania on Friday after scans revealed that the problem is worse than initially feared, according to The Mirror.
"I'm a little bit disappointed for Daniel Sturridge, because when he came to us he didn't really feel that the slight problem he felt was really any problem at all," said England boss Roy Hodgson.
"When we did the scan and it turned out that there was a problem he was absolutely devastated, because he didn't want to leave us. There was no option because he has a slight tear and you can't play through that."
The news comes as a major setback for Liverpool as Sturridge will miss their crunch Premier League clash with top-four rivals Arsenal on April 4.
This is not the first injury blow Sturridge has endured this term, with the England international already having missed five months of the season with thigh and calf problems.
