Liverpool 'monitoring Philippe Coutinho situation'

Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho may be offered an escape route out of Catalonia by former club Liverpool, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly interested in re-signing Philippe Coutinho and they are closely monitoring his situation at Barcelona.

Coutinho has refused to rule out a Camp Nou exit this summer after struggling to make the impact expected since joining from Liverpool in January 2018.

The Brazilian playmaker, who has just helped Brazil to Copa America glory on home soil, has previously been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claims that Liverpool are also in the running to sign Coutinho, however, as long as they can land him for a reasonable fee.

Barca may be forced to offload the 27-year-old for a cut-price sum as they are pushing hard to sign Antoine Griezmann and Neymar, who will both cost more than £100m.
