Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan made an appearance for the club's Under-21s on Monday after 19 months out with a knee injury.
The 22-year-old last featured for the Reds' first team in May 2014, before undergoing two operations on his left knee in September 2014 and April 2015.
Flanagan - dubbed "the Scouse Cafu" by Liverpool fans - played 30 minutes on Monday night and will now seek to force his way into the plans of new manager Jurgen Klopp.
The club granted him a one-year extension to his contract in May as he continued his rehabilitation.
Flanagan has made 35 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, scoring one goal in a 5-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in December 2013.
