Monaco to move for Xherdan Shaqiri?

Ligue 1 side Monaco reportedly express interest in signing Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri.

Monaco are reportedly lining up a bid for Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri this month.

The 27-year-old moved to Anfield on a five-year deal last summer but made just 11 starts in the Premier League, with 13 further appearances coming from the subs' bench.

According to Blick, the Swiss international is uncertain of how much game time he will get this season and faces renewed competition for a squad place in the form of the fit-again Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The publication claims that Monaco are monitoring the situation and are preparing a deal that would see him earn around £106,000 a week net - a 50% increase on his current wages at Anfield.

Liverpool are said to be open to the possibility of Shaqiri leaving the club this summer but want a transfer fee of £33m, which would represent a profit of almost £20m in the space of one season.

The transfer window closes in the Premier League this evening but remains open in France until September 2.
