Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Friday's Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manchester City will have the chance to close the gap on the teams above them in the Premier League table when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Friday.

With the top two facing off on Boxing Day, Pep Guardiola's side could make further ground on at least one of Liverpool and Leicester City, having beaten the latter 3-1 on Saturday.

However, the champions will be wary of the threat posed by a Wolves side that has already beaten them at the Etihad Stadium this season.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Possible return date: February 1 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

There is speculation that Bayern Munich target Leroy Sane may have played his last game for Man City, with a return from his serious knee injury not expected until after the end of the January transfer window.

Aymeric Laporte's absence has been keenly felt since he picked up knee ligament damage in August, and the Frenchman is still more than a month away from returning.

Kevin De Bruyne had Man City fans worried when he limped off in the closing stages against Leicester, but he was quick to ease concerns over his fitness by insisting that it was only cramp and the Belgian should be available for this one.

Possible return date: December 27 (vs. Wolves)

Ilkay Gundogan was also forced off early against Leicester due to muscular tightness, and he will be handed a late fitness test ahead of this match.

David Silva

Possible return date: December 29 (vs. Sheffield United)

Guardiola has confirmed that David Silva is "better", but that he will not feature in this match. The Spaniard picked up a knock in training earlier this month and could be in contention against Sheffield United.

John Stones

John Stones suffered a thigh injury in the Manchester derby earlier this month and remains out for the trip to Molineux, although he is understood to be close to a return having initially only been ruled out for a "few weeks".

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man City have no players suspended for this match, but Rodri, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva are all one booking away from a ban.
