Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has expressed his confidence in Yaya Toure to not be affected by online abuse.
Toure re-activated his Twitter presence (@YayaToure) after Sunday's Manchester derby win against Manchester United and was immediately subjected to abusive responses on the social media site that led to anti-racism organisation Kick It Out filing a complaint with Greater Manchester Police.
Pellegrini is confident in his star midfielder to not be distracted by the investigation.
"I think Yaya is an experienced player," PA quotes Pellegrini as saying. "He is always trying to fight against those things but I don't think he will have any problem about that, to play in the way he knows [how] to do it.
"I read the news about what happened but I think the people in charge will do the right things."
Ivory Coast international Toure initially abandoned Twitter five months ago to focus on the World Cup.
