Nasser Al-Khelaifi: 'Angel di Maria wanted Paris Saint-Germain move'

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi says that Angel di Maria favoured a move to the French giants before joining Manchester United.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has claimed that Manchester United winger Angel di Maria wanted to join the French giants this summer.

The Red Devils splashed out a British record sum of £59m to sign the Argentine from Real Madrid in August.

A move to PSG was touted but it was reported that compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations prevented the big-spending Ligue 1 outfit from acting.

"Di Maria wanted to come to Paris but even without FFP, we wouldn't have signed him," he told Le Parisien.

The 26-year-old made his United debut in Saturday's 0-0 draw away to Burnley in the Premier League.
