Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that there is "no foundation" in reports linking Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard with a switch to Manchester United.
The England international was speculated to be interested in a move to the Premier League champions, but the Scottish boss has refuted these suggestions.
"You're not going to tell me Chelsea would sell [Frank] Lampard to us in January. You really believe that?" Ferguson said in a press conference. "There's no foundation to that simply because the second half of the season is important to Chelsea. They'll want to keep their best players."
Meanwhile, the Red Devils prepare to face North West rivals Manchester City in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
