Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Danny Welbeck needs to score more than 20 goals to be regarded as a "top striker".
The Red Devils frontman had an inconsistent season with the former Premier League champions, which recently sparked speculation that the England international could be on his way out of Old Trafford.
"Danny can be a top player but obviously he will have to improve his goalscoring," said Ferguson. "He got nine goals last season but if you are going to be a top striker you have to get 20 or above."
Reports have claimed that the 21-year-old could be closing in on a new contract with the North West club.
