Joleon Lescott has said that Manchester City must continue to match Manchester United's results to stay ahead of them in the title race.
The Citizens lost their first league game of the season last week to Chelsea, but have maintained a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League ahead of Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
Meanwhile, Lescott insists that the club's goal is to continue to match United's results on a week-to-week basis.
"The main goal is to win every game, home and away, and match United's results," he said, according to The Mirror.
"We are scoring a lot of goals and winning games and we have an air of confidence about us. But that is controlled – you don't want it to be too arrogant.
"The main thing is to keep it going, keep progressing and keep our feet on the ground."
Roberto Mancini's side will next travel to the Hawthorns to face West Brom.
