David Moyes admits that there is an "element of fear" in becoming the new Manchester United manager.

David Moyes has admitted that there is an "element of fear" that comes with becoming the new manager of Premier League champions Manchester United.

The former Everton boss has been finding his feet at his new role during the club's pre-season schedule, which has taken them to Australia and now Japan.

Since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson, who amassed 38 trophies during his 26-year reign at Old Trafford, Moyes understands that taking United forward is no easy feat.

"There's not one person who would turn around and say: 'Taking over Manchester United, you think you can walk in there and breeze in and think you can do it easily'. Of course not," ESPN quotes Moyes as saying.

"There has to be an element of fear that comes with managing a club like Manchester United. It keeps you working, it keeps you focused and helps you try not to take your eye off the ball."

The Red Devils are due to take on the Yokohama Marinos in a pre-season clash today.
