Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on Brentford striker Ivan Toney, with Antonio Conte looking to recruit a new forward in 2023.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

After recording 12 goals and five assists in 33 Premier League appearances for the Bees last season, the 26-year-old has continued to excel in front of goal this term, contributing with six goals and two assists in nine league games.

Toney's early season form is understood to have caught the eye of a number of clubs ahead of the January transfer window.

Manchester United and Chelsea have both been credited with an interest in the Northampton-born striker, who would allegedly be interested in a move to the former.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, journalist Pete O'Rourke said: "Ivan Toney, he's worked wonders to get that call-up to the England squad.

"He's been instrumental for Brentford since they came up to the Premier League last season, and the chance to move to a massive club like Manchester United, I'm sure, would turn his head. That's pretty obvious, I think, for any player."

However, Football Insider claims that Tottenham are closely monitoring Toney and sent scouts to watch Brentford's talisman in the 5-1 Premier League defeat at Newcastle United last week.

The report adds that Antonio Conte is evaluating possible centre-forward targets ahead of the New Year, with the Italian keen to recruit a 'powerful and mobile' striker who is proven in the Premier League.

Spurs spent around £60m to sign Richarlison from Everton over the summer to provide competition for the likes of Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski in attack with leading marksman Harry Kane.

Toney is under contract at the Gtech Community Stadium until June 2025, but a recent report claims that Brentford are lining up a new long-term deal for the striker to fend off interest from potential suitors.

While Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on Toney's situation, the striker has also caught the eye of England manager Gareth Southgate, who called up Brentford's No.17 to his latest squad for two UEFA Nations League matches last month, although he was unable to make his debut.

Nevertheless, Toney will be in the frame for a place in Southgate's 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar and he will be keen to continue his fine form for Thomas Frank's side in the coming weeks.
