Alan Pardew's job 'safe for now'

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew's job is safe for the time being, according to a report.

Alan Pardew has reportedly been told that his job as Newcastle United manager is safe for the time being.

The 53-year-old has been heavily criticised by the club's supporters following their poor start to season, with some calling for him to be sacked during last night's 1-0 defeat at Stoke City.

Pardew confirmed after the match that he would be holding talks with Magpies owner Mike Ashley.

It appears that those talks have been positive for Pardew, who will take charge for Saturday's match at Swansea City.

According to Sky Sports News, Pardew will remain Newcastle boss even if his side lose at the Liberty Stadium this weekend.

Pardew was appointed manager in 2010.
